My Story
Hello Wolf Pack! I’ve been living in sunny, beautiful San Diego for about 7 years now and have found my home. I’ve been fortunate enough to be raised in Southern California for all of my life but no place really has my heart like here. I was lucky enough to be introduced AwareWolf in February of 2021 and instantly fell in love with the community, teachers, and space. One of my many joys is staying active, whether that means classes at AwareWolf, dancing my heart out on the dance floor, swimming in the ocean or hitting the slopes during the winter time. I’m so excited to meet all of you, so don’t forget to say hi when checking in for any of our amazing classes or events!
Get to know me:
We asked each of our teachers the same 10 questions. Read on to learn more about Alexis.
1. What is your spirit animal and why?
I like to say a jellyfish is my spirit animal, I’ve always had a love for the ocean and those beautiful, mystical creatures have always struck a cord with me. I do my best in life to go with the flow, not control what I cant’, and understand that resisting things will only bring conflict. Being okay with the ever changing tides of life has brought more peace and fluidity in my own life.
2. What was the first thing you wanted to be when you grew up?
I really wanted to be a veterinarian when I was a kid, but only when I saw those shows about pet rescues and surgeries I found that that’s definitely not the path for me. Animals make me so happy, to see them in distress or in pain just hurts my heart too much.
3. If you could have one super power what would it be?
If I could have one super power it would be to teleport! So many places I’d travel to.
4. What is your favorite place to eat in San Diego? What do you order?
One of my many favorite places to eat is Red House Pizza, being lactose intolerant means not getting to enjoy pizza as much as I wish I could but this place serves up some of the best dairy-free pizza for my cravings! They have so many options but one of my favorite pies is the Meade and vegan Greek salad.
5. What is one thing that can instantly make your day better?
One thing that can make any day better is a dip in the ocean or a conversation with a good friend.
6. If you could live anywhere in the world other than San Diego, where would it be?
I would love to live in Spain or Amsterdam ! I got to visit both countries a fews years ago and felt right at home in both of them. I love the culture in Spain, and the environment of Amsterdam.
7. What type of music/DJ/band gets you dancing?
House music! Specifically disco house. Purple Disco Machine is my go-to DJ for getting this booty moving!
8. What is something that fills you with purpose?
Helping others, in any way, shape, or form. Even if this means simply just listening to someone talk about their day or running an errand with them. If I know I’ve made someone happy it fills me with so much joy.
9. What are 3 personal rituals that you do everyday and why?
1. I always like to start my day with making my bed, just accomplishing that simple task and having it look neat sets up my day for success.
2. Drink my morning coffee, I’m definitely a coffee lover so that smell in the morning makes me happy
3. Write in my gratitude journal, writing about the things I’m grateful for remind me of all the good I have in my life even if things don’t seem so great. A little reminder on how far I’ve come and all the good things I have in my life make me feel grounded.
10. What is one quote or piece of positive advice you’d like to share?
Ever since reading the “Four Agreements” by Don Miguel Ruiz, I have repeated the agreements in my head everyday and only hope to share them with everyone I meet. If you’re not familiar with what they are:
1. Be Impeccable with your Word
2. Don't take anything personally
3. Don't make assumptions
4. Always do your best.
- (I highly recommend reading the book to get a better break down and explanation behind each agreement but also love talking about!)
